Global ocean tides from GRACE (2011-15)

My previous research into Arctic ocean tides has been extended to solve for global ocean tides using GRACE satellite acceleration data. This research was presented at the 2011 Fall AGU and the 2012 Ocean Sciences conferences.

GRACE data from April 2002 – April 2010 were inverted using mascons spaced every ~100km for these preliminary present day mass trends:

For comparison, here’s an image and overlay inverted using mascons spaced every ~230km, with a 15cm color scale.

The overlays can be displayed using Google Earth. Displaying an overlay on Android or iPhone/iPad also requires a third party app.
